Palmdale Regional Water Augmentation Program

The Palmdale Regional Water Augmentation Program proposes to use recycled water to either supplement surface water supplies or groundwater supplies. The program, once completed, would utilize 5,325 acre-feet of recycled water from the Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant. The recycled water would be purified further to meet the regulatory requirements for being added to Lake Palmdale or injected into the local aquifer. For surface water augmentation, recycled water would be processed through an advanced treatment system and piped to Palmdale Lake that currently provides drinking water to customers. Water from Palmdale Lake is treated at the Leslie O. Carter Water Treatment Plant. Similarly to surface water augmentation, recycled water is processed through an advanced treatment system and piped to injection wells, where the purified water would be injected into the groundwater aquifer and then pumped out of the aquifer by the District’s wells after the injected water travels through the aquifer before it is removed.

Technical Memorandum (TM) briefly presents the project background, the scope of work, regulatory requirements, infrastructure requirements, and initial costs to evaluate the feasibility of Palmdale Water District (PWD) utilizing recycled water for surface water augmentation and/or groundwater injection.
